This edition of The Window has been curated by Clara Adolphs.
Clara Adolphs is an artist based in the Southern Highlands region of NSW. Working primarily across painting within a practice concerned with nostalgic aura, Adolphs' artworks explore the notion of time and memory. She is fascinated by the question of what remains after a moment as passed. Abandoned photographs are often the starting point for her paintings and the anonymity of the characters in intended to afford sentimentality. Adolphs’ work was exhibited at Goulburn Regional Art Gallery in 2018 and her artwork Daylight Hours, 2018 was acquired for the Gallery’s Permanent Collection.
Adolphs completed her Bachelor Degree in Fine Arts at the University of New South Wales in 2008. Since then she has held solo exhibitions throughout Australia. She has been a finalist in the Archibald Prize, the Sulman Prize, the Mosman Art Prize and the Brett Whiteley Travelling Scholarship. Adolphs work is held in numerous private and public collections within Australia.
