2020 Goulburn Art Award

17 apr. — 2 may 2020

The 2020 Goulburn Art Award is open for submissions 13 January - 6 March 2020.  Artists within a 120km radius of Goulburn working across any medium are eligible to apply.  Two categories will be open: the Goulburn Art Award and the Young Artists Award.

The 2020 edition welcomes Karen Quinlan AM, Director of the National Portrait Gallery as judge.  Quinlan has been the Director of the National Portrait Gallery since December 2019 after an incredible eighteen years as Director of Bendigo Art Gallery.  She is one of the most respected and innovative arts leaders in Australia and will lend an exceptional eye to the Art Award.

The winners will be announced on opening night, Friday 17 April with cash prizes awarded.  The winner of the 2019 Goulburn Art Award was photographer Mark Kelly, whose subsequent series 'Ghosts of the Past' was exhibited in the Gallery in 2019.   Winner of the 2018 Young Artist Award was Cooper Pearce, and Birte Larson was awarded Highly Commended.

We encourage submissions from artists at all stages of their careers, and an open day will be held in February for all submitting artists who want to refine their application.
