Colour Rhythms
21 nov. 2025 — 31 jan. 2026
Colour Rhythms celebrates the expressive power of colour, exploring its ability to create connections and inspire. Drawn from the Goulburn Regional Art Gallery’s permanent collection, this exhibition brings together diverse artistic practices deeply interwoven within the Gallery’s rich history of over 40 years.
Spanning painting, textiles, photography and works on paper, the exhibition sees artists use colour in unique ways to explore emotion, memory and identity. Through vivid contrasts, subtle harmonies and rhythmic compositions, these works reveal how colour communicates beyond words. Though each artist’s practice is shaped by unique methods, materials and contexts, all reveal colour’s capacity to evoke the natural world, personal histories and cultural narratives.
Set against a vibrant mural of striking colour, the installation playfully contrasts with the artworks, heightening their presence and revealing new dimensions within each work. Colour Rhythms inspires curiosity and reflection, inviting audiences to consider how colour shapes the ways we see, feel and remember.
Featuring works from the permanent collection by Sharon Adamson, Mary Barton, Emma Beer, Diana Wood Conroy, Yvette Coppersmith, Lorraine Daylight, Teelah George, Ildiko Kovacs, James Lieutenant, Eubena Nampitjin, Kenan Namunjdja, Cindy Morton Petyarre, Alison Puruntatameri, Dionisia Salas, Gemma Smith, Justine Varga and Kate Vassallo.
