Preview events launching Mel O'Callaghan's 'Centre of the Centre'
Performance and in-conversation
Friday 16 April 2021
1:00PM - 3:00PM
Join us in the Gallery at 1pm, Friday 16 April for the preview events launching Mel O'Callaghan's 'Centre of the Centre'.
We're hosting a live performance of O'Callaghan's 'Respire, Respire'. Centred on the notions of breath, regeneration and life, this performance is a powerful reminder of our closeness to our non-human lifeforms on Earth - in the very deepest reaches of the ocean.
Following the performance, will be an in-conversation with Mel O'Callaghan, Alexie Glass-Kantor, Executive Director Artspace and Michelle Newton, Deputy Director Artspace. Artspace is one of Australia's leading institutions for the production and presentation of contemporary art by the most exceptional artists of our time. Glass-Kantor and Newton are two of Australia's most highly regarded curators and initiated this major new commission of works by O'Callaghan. These three practitioners will share their experiences, ideas and reasoning behind this ambitious project.
Seating is limited and booking is essential for this program.
