Celebrate with us as we open the final exhibitions for 2024!

In the main space the Gallery will be premiering Of mouth and mind is a major solo exhibition by Braidwood-based artist Dionisia Salas, investigating the interplay between the physical and psychological aspects of the lived experience.

Establishing drawing as the foundational underpinning of the artist’s practice, this exhibition presents physical articulations of the absurd while mining the subconscious. Salas’ energetic compositions of undulating lines and forms are at once depictions of the landscape, the body and the mind. Inhabiting Gallery 1 with immersive works on canvas and intimate works on board and paper, Of mouth and mind embraces wandering shapes that meander through figuration and abstraction, tugging at the imagination and association.

The Gallery will also be launching a solo exhibition by Sammy Hawker titled Conversations with bees. Based in Kamberri/Canberra, Hawker teases at reciprocal engagements between human and more-than-human worlds through a multi-disciplinary practice encompassing text, photography and moving image. Conversations with bees exhibits a vast, perpetual archive of photographic and object-based encounters documenting sites, stories, local phenomena, and moments of exchange.

Exhibiting in Gallery 2, Luke Chiswell presents To Spite One's Face. Based between Los Angeles and Collector, NSW Chiswell presents his fascination with material agency through the process of cast sculpture. Relationships between familiar forms, natural and human-made, are explored and interrogated through a poetic clash of objects, both rendered inert yet altogether new.
