Conversations with Artists: Gina Mobayed with Nicole Foreshew
Saturday 8 December 2018
12:15PM - 1:00PM
Join us for an insight into the fascinating practice of Nicole Foreshew as she discusses her work with Director, Gina Mobayed. Nicole is a prolific artist who has exhibited across Australia and abroad. In 2018 her video work, Garraywarra (2017), was screened as part of a major public art project at Wynyard train station and she was awarded both the Parliament of NSW Aboriginal Art Prize and the NSW Aboriginal Arts Fellowship in 2014. Nicole is also a highly respected curator, presenting the 2015 edition of Primavera at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Australia.
Foreshew, a member of the Wiradjuri nation, Central West NSW, works across an ambitious array of materials and processes. Her new body of work was formed from a recent residency in Morocco and presents sculpture and photographs. This exhibition maintains Foreshew's profound connection to her Country and intense explorations of meaning and materials. New sculptural forms are the result of complex processes that speak to both ceremonial and everyday uses of earth materials that Foreshew has become known for.
