Crusty, characterful, construction
Local artist Noel Thurgate chose fellow artist Peter Powditch as his subject for the 2017 Archibald Prize, the reasons for such 'he has a great head' as well as his admiration for Powditch's achievements as an artist. Thurgate's work is full of depth and detail and uses an array of materials beyond oil paint.
Four times an Archibald finalist and based in Berrima, Thurgate was the head of drawing at the National Art School and has been exhibiting his work for over 30 years.
