Join us in at the Gallery for an artist talk with Kate Vassallo discussing her exhibition Connections.
Kate Vassallo is an Australian-Maltese visual artist, currently based on Ngunnawal, Ngunawal and Ngambri Country (Canberra, Australia). Her work is held in the Gallery's permanent collection and commissioned public art collection.
Connections is an exhibition of new work that highlights Vassallo's fascination with labour and process, come along to hear direct from the artist about her evolving and muti-faceted practice.
The paintings in Vassallo’s exhibition are built up slowly with thin layers of acrylic paint. Incorporating a repetitious mark making process, these works are made in a controlled fashion. Through developing these soft geometric works, Vassallo considers colour and light in an abstracted way, while also aiming to imbed a sense of time, memory and labour into their surfaces.
As always, this program is free of charge and open to all. Bookings can be made via the link below.
