Goulburn Regional Art Gallery

Caroline Traill

These paintings represent a collection of images that have been imprinted on my memory and informed by the ebb and flow of the landscape I grew up with and parts of the country I have visited.  The equal strength and fragility of the land observed is always a constant inspiration. Devastation can be quickly followed by growth and renewal.
It is the associated sensory recollection of these landscapes and how they might be transposed which remains an ever constant challenge and theme. On reflection, the space between what is real and imagined is governed by an intuitive response, whilst transient, it is something I try and explore in the work.
